Using Wordless Picture Books and Graphic Novels as a Stimulus for Writing

Wordless picture books and graphic novels serve as a stimulus for writing.  Their use develops language and provides support for pupils with English as an additional language.  In this course we will explore the links between images and grammar techniques to achieve plot, description, action, and dialogue.  We will draw upon the CLPE/EEF research findings: when children are given the opportunities to draw as part of the writing process, they extend their ideas and produce richer writing.  Course materials will be made available to all delegates who attend this session.
