Relationships and Sex Education

Tower Hamlets is a place where we celebrate our differences and see our diversity as strength. Our borough is ‘No Place for Hate’ and we work to tackle all forms of hate and intolerance. We want our schools to be places which champion this diversity and can make all children, and their families, feel welcome in the school community and within our borough.

From September 2020, the Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education aspects of PSHE education will be compulsory in all schools.

Tower Hamlets has produced a range of guides for schools which are available here.

DfE: Teacher Guidance on Mental Wellbeing

These Department for Education resources for primary and secondary schools are designed to help train staff about teaching mental wellbeing. This initial training module supports the physical health and mental wellbeing section of the statutory Relationships, Sex and Health Education curriculum. It is the first of a series of 14 modules from the Government, with the aim of supporting schools to implement the new subject guidance.

The mental wellbeing teacher training module will help subject leads and teachers understand what they should teach, and improve their confidence in delivering mental wellbeing as part of the new curriculum.
